Cube
Fear... Paranoia... Suspicion... Desperation
Six oridanry strangers (from different walks of life - a cop, a math wiz,a building designer, a doctor, an escape master, and an autistic man) awaken one day to find themselves alone in a cubical maze containing hundreds of rooms. Once they meet, they must work together using their given skills and talents to survive the deadly traps they encounter as they try find out what is happening to them and if there is a way out.
The cast is relatively unknown although almost all of them share background working on previous projects such as episodes of Forever Knight circa 1992. The most notable is the math wiz played by Nicole DeBoer(who starred in PSI factor in 1996 but is best known for her role as Lt. Ezri Dax on the series StarTrek: Deep Space Nince(1998-1999)
This gem is directed by Vincenzo Natali, who is partly responsible for the television series "Earth: Final Conflict" and the aforementioned "PSI Factor : Chronicles of the Paranormal". Although not the absolutely most thrilling movie ever, and not super high on the gore listings, it has some really good writing and makes for a really nice addition to any Sci-Fi/Horror buff collection.
WARNING!!
*~*~*~*~*SPOILER ALERT*~*~*~*~
Speaking of gore. Some horror fans may notice something familiar in one death scene. One of the initial character is killed by a mesh of razor sharp wire which slices a the guy into small bits and pieces. This looks alot like the death scene, year later, in "Resident Evil" (2002) where a mesh of lasers kills the boss dude (whom I believe was played by Martin Crewes). I think that that scene in RE was a nod to Natali and this great movie done in the finest Twilght Zone tradition.

Now in other news,
The baby should be here very soon. The projected due date is April 7th, but according to my wife (and I agree) it feels like it could be literally any minute now! I will keep you all posted.
Until next time,
Here is today's Cure song:
Today's Cure song is "To Wish Impossible Things" from the Wish CD-(1992) This is a smooth song with sad overtones. According to Robert, "In all relationships, there are always aching holes and that's where the impossible wishes come into it."
"Remember how it used to be
When the stars would fill the sky
Remember how we used to dream
Those nights would never end"
